History
Seventy-five years ago, the very first Vespa scooter emerged from the rubble of post-WW2 Italy. Designed by Corradino D’Ascanio, an engineer with a dislike for motorcycles, Vespa was produced by Piaggio—an aircraft company that had been banned from making planes due to war destruction. The prototype, known as the MP5, initially faced skepticism but soon became a global sensation. Its ‘pinched waist’ step-through design earned it the nickname “Paperino” (Italian for Donald Duck), and little did Enrico Piaggio know that it would transform the world.
