What?
Uluwatu is located at the tip of the Bukit Peninsula in Bali. The central place in this area is the Pura Luhur Uluwatu temple. Ulu means “end of the land” and Watu translates as “rocks”, Uluwatu is aptly named as this area, at the southernmost tip of the island, is encircled by high cliffs that drop steeply into the Indian Ocean. The west coast of the Bukit Peninsula is particularly popular with surfers, and there is even a rumour that the Balinese believe that the gods have blessed the waves of Uluwatu, because of the perfection of its waves!
Where?
From Bali airport (Denpasar), the Bukit peninsula and thus Uluwatu are only about 20 km or half an hour away.
How?
The best way to get around Uluwatu is by motorbike. You can rent a motorbike for 60.000 IDR per day and explore the entire area. Uluwatu is quiet compared to other areas in Bali, so it shouldn’t be too hard to drive around. Other options are Grab, Gojek, or Taxi.
When?
The months of June to August are comfortable, with average temperatures and very little rain. There is barely one day of rain per month, so most tourists consider this to be the best time to visit Uluwatu, as opposed to the high season.
